What is WayneDirect?
WayneDirect is a concurrent enrollment and early admission program for currently enrolled Macomb Community College students who are interested in transferring to or taking classes at Wayne State University to earn a bachelor’s degree. The program provides Macomb students opportunities to learn more about Wayne State University’s academic programs, participate in campus events and activities and take classes at both institutions to complete their bachelor's degree faster. Through WayneDirect, students can avail themselves of special services that will assist them in their transition to Wayne State and increase their likelihood for success.

What schools or colleges are participating in WayneDirect?
Partners in the WayneDirect program include Wayne County Community College District, Henry Ford Community College and Macomb Community College.

When can I participate in WayneDirect?
WayneDirect is designed for students just starting their college careers and therefore is only open to those who have earned fewer than 50 total credit hours at any and all institutions they have attended. Students with more than a total of 50 credits or who have an associate degree can apply as transfer students to Wayne State University by completing the Undergraduate Admissions Application.

What if I have more than 50 credit hours of coursework and/or an associate degree?
If you have more than 50 credits or an associate degree you can apply as a transfer student to Wayne State University by completing the Undergraduate Admissions Application.

Can I transfer to Wayne State before I finish the WayneDirect program?
Yes. Students who choose to transfer before completing the program must complete an Undergraduate Admissions Application and pay the $30 application fee.

Is there an application fee for WayneDirect?
No. There is no application fee for WayneDirect. However, if you choose to transfer to Wayne State before you complete the WayneDirect program, you must fill out an Undergraduate Admissions Application and pay the $30 application fee.

What are the advantages of WayneDirect?
WayneDirect participants are able to access many of the same resources to which Wayne State students have access. WayneDirect participants are given a Wayne State OneCard that gives them access to the Matthaei Athletic Complex, Wayne State library services and on-campus parking. Participants also tap in to Wayne State’s academic and career resources including academic advising, writing workshops, tutoring and success workshops and career counseling. Macomb students who concurrently enroll at both Wayne State and Macomb can maximize their financial aid assistance by combining credit hours from both institutions.

How do I apply for financial aid if I take classes at both institutions?
If you are enrolled in courses at both schools, you should apply for financial aid at Wayne State. You must be a concurrently enrolled WayneDirect student in order to take advantage of financial aid from Wayne State. If you are only enrolled at Macomb, you must apply for financial aid at Macomb. Questions regarding financial aid can be directed to either school: Wayne State (313) 577-3378 or Macomb (586) 445-7228.

If I am enrolled at both institutions, how can I verify my enrollment?
You can verify your enrollment at Wayne State through Pipeline.

Will Wayne State University automatically drop courses I’ve enrolled in at Wayne State, if payment is not received by the payment due date?
No. Wayne State University does not automatically drop courses for non-payment of tuition and/or fees. If a student decides not to attend Wayne State, courses should be dropped prior to or during the 100% tuition cancellation period. Otherwise, you will incur a late payment fee that will be added to your bill.

Where can I find a WayneDirect application?
You can get a WayneDirect application online at or pick-up one in the counseling/advising center at your community college.

If I participate in WayneDirect, will all of my courses transfer?
Only those courses deemed transferable by Wayne State University will transfer to the university. Visit the transfer equivalency table and transfer plans for your community college to find out which credits will transfer.

If I participate in WayneDirect and receive my associate degree, will all of my General Education courses be waived?
No. Completing an appropriate associate degree (or having the MACRAO-stamped transcript) will not guarantee that all general education requirements are waived. You must speak with your academic adviser to determine which general education requirements can be waived for your specific major or program.

If I am a WayneDirect student, do I need to have my updated transcripts sent to Wayne State at the end of each semester?

You must request for your transcripts to be sent to Wayne State University’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions in order for Wayne State to update your transfer credit evaluation.
