How to Apply

Students Applying from Canada:

  1. Complete the official application and submit the application and $50 (US funds) application fee.
  2. Request official academic credentials (transcripts) certified by a high school official or a university/college official. Credentials must bear the institution’s seal and signature. Academic credentials must be mailed directly to Wayne State University. Non-certified copies or student copies are not acceptable.
  3. For transfer credit evaluation purposes, please submit copies of all course descriptions if courses are from countries outside of Canada.
  4. Transcripts from countries other than Canada must have certified English translations bearing official seal/stamp and signatures of the issuing institution along with the official transcript in the native language.
  5. Complete and sign Statement of Financial Support and Funding Statement no more than six months old. Both statements can be found in the Canadian Undergraduate Admissions Application. See I-20 Expense Requirements for appropriate Funding Statement amounts.
  6. Submit proof of English proficiency. Requirements are the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 and TWE and oral scores of 5.5 or more, IBT (Internet-based TOEFL) score of 79-80, or computer-based TOEFL with a minimum score of 213 and oral score of 5.5 or more. Test results cannot be more than two years old. Refer to the English Proficiency Requirements section of the application for a further explanation.
  7. If you hold a non-immigrant US visa (H1, B1, F1, TN, L1, etc.) you must include a photocopy of your current visa with the admissions application form.
  8. Submit copy of proof of citizenship or permanent residency. Acceptable documents include passport, birth certificate, citizenship card and/or permanent resident card.

Canadian Students Transferring from US Universities/Colleges:

  1. Request that all official transcripts be forwarded directly to Wayne State University from each institution attended.
  2. Contact an International Student Advisor to arrange for release of SEVIS status. A copy of the current I-20 should be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Wayne State University.
