WSU Online Application

When you first enter the online application process you will be asked to select your Application Type. The descriptions of each type are:

  • Freshman – For domestic (US Citizens/Permanent Residents) students who are juniors/seniors in high school, or dually enrolled or taking college credits while in high school, or who earned a GED or Diploma (see admission criteria for GED holders) seeking a bachelor’s degree.
  • Transfer – For domestic (US Citizens/Permanent Residents) students with earned college/university credits seeking a bachelor’s degree or a second bachelor’s degree.
  • International Freshman – For international students (non-US Citizens or Permanent Residents) who have completed high school in our outside of the US.
  • International Transfer – For international students (non-US Citizens or Permanent Residents) with earned college/university credits seeking a bachelor’s degree or second bachelor’s degree.
  • Post Bachelor – For students that have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree program. This application is for students that are interested in earning college credit without intending to use the credit to earn another degree or for students that must raise their grade-point average and/or fulfill specific undergraduate course requirements prior to gaining admission to the Graduate School.
    Note: Students that completed their undergraduate or graduate degree at Wayne State University do not need to complete the Post Bachelor application. If you are a WSU graduate contact the Records Office at (313) 577-3531 to change your status to Post Bachelor.

Please note that the College of Engineering has established the following as the final dates to grant undergraduate admission to the college.
Fall Term - August 1
Winter Term - December 1
Spring/Summer Term - April 1

Previous Applicants

  • If you have applied for admission as a Freshman or Transfer student within the last year and did not enroll at WSU, you need to submit a new application through the online system. You do not need to submit a new application fee if you paid previously. If you prefer, you can download the Undergraduate Renewal Application and follow the instructions on that application for submission.
  • If you were previously an enrolled student at WSU and you wish to return at the same level you do not need to complete an application for admission. Please contact the Records Office at (313) 577-3531 to re-activate your student status.

Application Fee Payment
The online application for admission includes the option to pay the application fee ($30 or $50 depending on status) via credit card at the time you submit your application. Please note that Wayne State University only accepts the following credit cards for payment: Discover, Mastercard, American Express, and Visa.

If you would like to pay your application fee online with your application you must do so at the time you submit your application. You will not be able to go back after the application has been submitted and pay the application fee with credit. Also, you will not be able to pay the application fee with credit over the phone or in-person.

If you do not pay the application fee online at the time of submission, you can have your check or money order, made payable to Wayne State University, to the following address:
